Don’t miss your chance to shine! If you are a student from ages 12 to 17 residing in Napa County, you are invited to audition for IDOL NV. Parents - this is your opportunity to give your Swiftie the spotlight! But of course, singers may choose any genre for their try out (as long as the lyrics are clean). This is a competition for solo artists only, though one or two backup musicians are allowed. There is no cost to apply or participate.

• AUDITIONS:
  Three opportunities for tryouts will take place at Lucky Penny Productions in front of judges who work professionally in education and/or the arts. Top-scoring applicants will then move to the semis on Saturday, Jan. 20, at the professionally run Napa Valley College Performing Arts Center. Judges will move 8 to 10 competitors to the finals, taking place Sun., Jan 21, also at the college. Semis and finals will take place in front of a live audience. Times to be determined.
   

• RULES FOR PARTICIPATION:
  Singers may choose any genre for their try out, however any song with questionable or offensive language will not be acceptable. Songs chosen should be no longer than four minutes. A singer may accompany his/her song with piano or any other instrument that is integral to the song chosen. If backup musicians can help enhance presentation, a maximum of two backup players are allowed. No duos or trios are allowed as Idol NV 2024 is a solo singing only competition. If a piano is needed, please contact event producer Evy Warshawski at evywar@email.com. Please bring a Bluetooth karaoke version of the song for backup if desired. Coaching may be available for free for semis and finals.

 

• FINALS: 
  A top prize winner plus two runners-up will be determined by a professional panel of judges. The audience will also vote for an “Audience Favorite,” to be awarded prizes as well. Top prizes will be announced in the coming months.

• BACKGROUND OF IDOL NV:  In 2007, 2009 and 2011, E & M Co-Director Evy Warshawski produced three Idol programs at the Napa Valley Opera House where she served as the Executive and Artistic Director. These competitions proved to be unique opportunities to showcase, in a professional setting, the wealth of emerging talent of young singers throughout Napa Valley. Community reach also included the involvement of local arts leaders as judges, hosts, professional coaches plus business and funder support.

• RETURNING FOR IDOL NV '24, Devon Hadsell, winner of NV IDOL 2007, will perform two songs at the finals as a special guest. Devon went on to appear in Tina Fey's "Mean Girls" on Broadway and has since performed in numerous plays and musicals in New York. Also appearing at the semi-finals will be the Napa High Vocal Music Workshop acapella group, an award-winning ensemble under the direction of Dave Ruane.
